The Law Offices of Jonathon R. Moore, PLLC has an active private client practice. Our clients include individuals--entrepreneurs, investors, philanthropists--as well as family businesses, "family offices," domestic and international trusts, and charitable structures for both U.S. and international families. Representation in corporate and commercial matters is frequently on behalf of a corporation or group of companies controlled by a single family, even where that corporation is publicly traded.
Concierge Legal Practice. It is axiomatic that life frequently works differently in different parts of the world. Beyond the obvious differences in legal jurisdictions, systems, practices and cultures diverge. Accordingly, in serving U.S. persons working or living abroad and foreign persons working or living in the United States, we are frequently called upon to go above and beyond providing answers to technical legal problems. Legal aspects of the representation are often enhanced by a practical side. In implementing this approach, the firm endeavors to provide “concierge services,” which our clients expect and deeply appreciate. Indeed, it is frequently necessary to assist clients in ways that they may not anticipate.
In addition to being described in other practice areas of this website, some representative examples of our private client practice follow below.
Inbound Investment in U.S. Real Property. The firm regularly structures investments of foreign individuals and families in real estate in the United States. Typical engagements involve commercial or retail property investments, acquisition and maintenance of vacation properties, and residences for family members (sometimes children attending universities). Structuring typically focuses on maintenance of privacy, shielding owners from disclosure of their identities from dissemination through web search engines, and avoidance of potential exposure to United States federal and state estate taxation. Once the structure is in place, the law firm, through an affiliated company, Ingomar Fiduciary Services, Inc., has the capability to maintain the structure established. We have accounting professionals who ensure that utilities, taxes and insurance are paid timely, and who are available in emergencies or for capital improvement project oversight.
